چکیده

In this research there were studied the effects of NaCl-induced salinity and environment temperatures on germination seedlings growth domestic poppy. The study was conducted in controlled conditions plant chamber. There applied different concentrations NaCl (0 mM (control), 50 mM, 100 150 mM) (10°C, 15°C 20°C). seeds poppy cultivar (Detkovac) sown 4 replicates filter paper. energy determined 5th day total rate morphological characteristic 10th day. At average 28%. It interesting to note that at 10°C no germinated after 5 days all treatments also, level every temperature. (on day) 52% it varied from 30% (150 20°C) 90% 15°C). Different water solution had a very significant (p<0.01) influence stem, root length (cm) seedlings. 1.3 cm 0.9 (100 NaCl) 1.8 NaCl). stem cm. longest found control (2.7 cm), between difference not averaged 1.4 depending Average 3.0 4.5 2.3 NaCl. With regard temperatures, differences seedlings, but for length. measured 20°C 0 (4.9 while or NaCl, less than 0.1 Seeds germinating both, Generally, reduced Results may indicate are mainly affected by osmotic stress therefore is recommended cultivate poppies soils with excess salts

Studying Morphine Biosynthesis Using Transgenic Opium Poppy (Papaver somniferum L.)

Opium poppy (Papaver somniferum L.) produces a large variety of isoquinoline alkaloids. The aim of this investigation is to understand the regulation of biosynthesis and the ecological function of the alkaloids in the plant. Agrobacterium-mediated transformations of opium poppy were used to introduce the berberine bridge enzyme cDNA bbe 1 in the antisense orientation into seedling explants. Aft...

Molecular Characterization of Opium Poppy (Papaver somniferum) Germplasm

Problem statement: The medicinal value of opium poppy (2n = 22, Papaver somniferum L.) is due to presence of more than two dozen alkaloids. The genetic origin and diversity of cultivars used in the breeding collection is not fully known. To evaluate the genetic diversity of the 24 germplasm currently cultivated in the state to provide genetic information about heterogeneity, using RAPD and ISSR...

Genetic analysis of capsule and its associated economic traits in opium poppy (Papaver somniferum L.).

Four single crosses (VG20 x SGE48, SGE48 x SG35II, VG26 x SG35II, and SG35II x VG20) in opium poppy (Papaver somniferum L.) were analyzed to study the gene actions involved in the inheritance of quantitative traits, namely plant height, branches/plant, capsules/plant, peduncle length, capsule index, stigmatic rays, straw yield/plant, and morphine content. Simple additive, dominance, and epistat...

Relations among alkaloids, cadmium and zinc contents in opium poppy (Papaver somniferum L.)

The effort of this work was to prove whether there exists any relation between stress factors caused by content of cadmium and zinc, and content and composition of opium alkaloids codeine, morphine, narcotine (noscapine) and papaverine contained in poppy seeds and capsules (Papaver somniferum L.) in 14 samples of 8 varieties cultivated in 8 localities in 2003.

Genetic studies on collar rot resistance in opium poppy (Papaver somniferum L.).

The collar rot disease has been reported recently and occurs at the 10-12-leaf stage of plants of opium poppy. Infected plants topple down and dry prematurely due to fast rotting at the collar region. The inoculum for this study was multiplied on the cornmeal-sand culture. Genetic ratios were calculated by the chi-square test. Inheritance studies on this disease show a monogenic pattern of segr...
